OniData. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, business name if you give one, and your password (stored in a scrambled form we cannot read).
- Identity verification: if you verify your identity, your NIN and the result of the check.
- Transactions: what you bought, the phone, meter or smartcard numbers you entered, amounts, wallet funding and balance history.
- Support messages: chats with our staff and automated replies, so we can help you and keep a record.
- Technical records: your IP address, device and browser type, and a log of important actions on your account, for security and fraud prevention.
Why we use it
- To create your account, run your wallet and deliver what you order.
- To verify you, prevent fraud and meet legal duties on financial records.
- To send you receipts, security codes and notices about your orders and account.
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
- To improve the service.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share only what is needed with the companies that help us run the service: payment and virtual-account providers, the airtime, data, electricity, cable and exam providers that fill your orders, identity verification providers, and SMS and email providers that send you codes and messages. We may also disclose information when the law, a court or a regulator requires it, or to protect against fraud.
Cookies
When you sign in we use one session cookie to keep you logged in and protect your forms. It is needed for the service to work. The public pages of this site, including the blog, do not set cookies of their own.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep financial and security records. Then we delete it or remove what identifies you.
How we protect it
Passwords and transaction PINs are stored in protected form, access to staff tools is limited by role, and repeated wrong attempts lock the account. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and PIN to yourself.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, object to some uses, or ask us to delete it. We may have to keep some records because the law requires it. Write to sales@onidata.com.ng. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Children
The service is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and tell you about important changes in your account or by email.
